Biography:
Javier brings a wealth of real-world science experience to Episcopal as a biology and environmental science teacher. Before dedicating his career to education in independent and public schools, he worked as an industrial chemist and manager at L'Oréal Paris.

In addition to his teaching, dorm parent, and coaching duties at EHS, Javier has spent the last two decades working with the Harvard University Crimson Summer Academy. After helping design the program's foundational science curriculum, he has continued returning to Cambridge every summer to support the academy.

A native of Costa Rica who has lived and worked in Spain, France, and Puerto Rico, Javier has a deep appreciation for history and global cultures. In his free time, he loves watching soccer and the Tour de France, as well as cooking and eating great food, with a special love for paella. He is the proud father of two EHS alumni, Nathaniel ’24 and Beatriz ’26.
